The VIP 12th Fan Tailgating Party, an experience that has infiltrated Qwest Field during every home game to give one lucky Qdoba & Seahawks fan (and 20 of their closest friends) the time of their lives, visited a local high school last week to raise money for a very special cause.

Andrew Rekdahl, or Mr. Rekdahl to the students at Eastside Catholic High School in Bellevue, WA was diagnosed with intestinal cancer last year, and since battling the disease has racked up a staggering amount in medical bills. Qdoba Mexican Grill, in the first of 5 local charity events scheduled as part of
the VIP Tailgating Experience campaign, brought the lounge to Eastside Catholic’s Homecoming Game Tailgating Fundraiser to raise money for Andrew and his family. Students, teachers, parents and supporters could enter the VIP lounge, which features sleek leather furniture, bar tables & chairs, Madden 2011 on XBOX 360 and Direct TV on three flat screen TVs and enjoy a full 200-person catering bar supplied by Qdoba for the event. Also in attendance was the famous Seahawks Tailgating Truck, serving Qdoba’s chips & queso to hungry EC fans.

We’re happy to report that the event raised over $20,000 to go toward Andrew’s medical bills, and even happier to report that yesterday from 3pm-5pm at the Qdoba Issaquah location, all proceeds from the $5 meal deal went directly to the Andrew Rekdahl Fund!

A 6-Event Weekend

September 13th, 2010

The team at Beyond Traditional is considering a coffee IV after this past weekend. Six events, six clients, six wins. Our weekend started off with a mobile tour for FSN, promoting the Seattle Mariners on our scrolling billboard vehicle. Friday night saw a video building illumination in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood to launch Qdoba Mexican Grill’s grand opening (which is today! Visit at 527 Broadway E in Seattle.) The video we created for the campaign is below:

Saturday we were at the University of Washington’s Husky Stadium with American Family Insurance for an enter to win contest to see Huskies play at USC, and Saturday night took us back up to Capitol Hill for our 2nd night of video illuminations.

Sunday was all hands on deck at the Seahawks’ Qwest Stadium in Seattle for the 1st 12th Fan VIP Tailgating Experience for Qdoba. To view more photos of this amazing experience, click here. To enter to win it for yourself, visit QdobaTailgate.com!

Here’s to next weekend…

Rainier Ice Cools Down Seafair Crowd With Mobile Billboard Truck

You’ve probably heard the controversy over bottled water companies that are simply bottling tap water and charging something like a 2000% premium to consumers.

Rainier Ice is not one of those companies.

Rainier Ice is a premium all-natural Artesian water. It rises from a pure, protected aquifer fed by pristine Cascade Mountain rain and snow. No tap water, no processed spring water. A simple and rare delicacy found in few places in the world.

Needless to say, we’re believers. Rainier Ice brought us a case of water to try on our own and turns out their “It’s the Taste” tagline is unbelievably accurate – the bottles disappeared in something like 24 hours.

So, when we were asked by Rainier Ice to increase brand awareness of their product line, we knew that people had to try the water itself to experience the difference. So, we unleashed a team of Brand Ambassadors, trained on the differences between Rainier Ice Artesian water and the aforementioned glorified tap water companies, on Seattle’s huge Seafair weekend festivities. While teams handed out bottled water, our supersized 10′x22′ Great White A-Frame Mobile Billboard Truck canvassed the area to create more brand awareness and connect the launch. Throughout the day, we distributed over 1,400 bottles and made a lot of reconsider their favorite bottled water company…

BT & Wing Dome Set West Seattle on Fire

July 29th, 2010

Our dream clients are those that aren’t afraid to take risks, thrive on doing something different, and love to get in the thick of it with our creative team. By these standards, the team at Wing Dome, Seattle’s favorite hot wing spot, have totally rocked our world. They called us because they’re opening a new store in West Seattle, a neighborhood of Seattle that’s more like an island in and of itself. Wing Dome is known for it’s spicy wings, fiery sauces, and it’s 7-Alarm Challenge (7 of Wing Dome’s 7-Alarm wings in 7 minutes), which while doing “client research” our Creative Director Ryan Moss attempted and failed miserably at. All this talk about heat and we knew we could do some really awesome things with, what else, fire.

We created a campaign called “The Fire is Spreading” and used non-traditional advertising to launch TheFireIsSpreading.com, a microsite we designed to provide up-to-date information on the grand opening while providing fun opportunities to interact with the brand, such as the ability to challenge your friends “Mad Libs” style to the 7-Alarm Challenge and take a quiz to see how spicy you really are in Wing Dome sauce terms.

The video to the left is a sneak peak at a unique interior building illumination we’re doing weekend nights at the new storefront while it’s being built out, behind custom vinyl window decals we created for the new store.

Accompanying the building projection are nearly 20 large hand-applied chalk graphics, strategically placed around the high-traffic footprint of busy West Seattle. The West Seattle Herald took note of what we’re doing and we’re loving that the West Seattle crowd “gets” our different approach to getting the word out.

There is a lot more in the works for Wing Dome, so stay tuned but until then – hope you enjoy the sneak peak!
