Beyond Traditional Launches Mobile Truck Tour for PSE

This summer, Beyond Traditional partnered with Puget Sound Energy and Colehour + Cohen to create a mobile scrolling truck for PSE’s Rock the Bulb: The Re-Energize Tour.

The “Bulb Mobile” was a branded, double scrolling truck, packed-to-the-roof with energy efficient light bulbs. The truck ran on biodiesel fuel and showcased scrolling campaign advertisements as well as a list of tour dates.

The 10-week mobile truck tour launched in late June and focused on eight cities throughout the Puget Sound Area. Stops included local farmer’s markets, community events, parades and storefronts. Passersby were invited to learn more about improving the energy efficiency of their homes through use of energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL); each visitor received a free ENERGY STAR-qualified CFL. The goal of the tour was to promote the Rock the Bulb events and encourageconsumers to make the switch from incandescent bulbs to CFL–which would save PSE costumers over $9 million and eliminate over 50 million pounds in greenhouse gas emissions over the lifespan of the bulbs.

Over 40,000 bulbs were handed out from the Bulb Mobile throughout the duration of the campaign. The campaign wrapped up in late August with the truck’s final stop in Burlington. To view more photos of the Bulb Mobile in action, visit www.facebook.com/ReEnergize.

Qdoba and Beyond Traditional will be offering Cardinals fans the opportunity to warm up their throwing arms and ‘pitch to win’ a variety of prizes–including coupons, admiration and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitch at an upcoming Cardinals game.

After departing the ‘mound,’ participants will receive a Qdoba coupon printed with a QR code. Once the code is scanned by a smartphone, fans will be directed to the Qdoba St. Louis Facebook fan page where they can  to check out their photos and tag themselves. Each photo will instantly upload, be outfitted in a custom baseball card frame and be available live on the web immediately following each fan’s pitching attempt.

The next chance for Cardinals fans to try out their fastballs will be at the September 6th home game against the Milwaukee Brewers; the last competition will be held at the September 11th game. Look for photos and recaps to be posted in next month’s newsletter or online at facebook.com/ThinkBT!

This football season, Seahawks tailgaters will find themselves drawn away from their coolers and bottled beverages by a vamped-up party tent equipped with flat screen TV’s, social media and phone charging stations, free beverages and plenty of chips and queso–a bonafide pre-game Avalon for any football fan!

At the first Seahawks home game in September, the Beyond Traditional team will kick off the second annual Qdoba VIP Tailgating Experience at the newly-monikered Century Link Field in Seattle, Wash.

After nomming on Qdoba chips and queso, fans can wrap up the Qdoba pre-game experience by perfecting their Heisman pose for a photo in front of the Qdoba Truck and stopping by the ‘social stations’ to tweet to their friends about how awesome the @Qdobatailgate party is. By ‘liking’ Qdoba Seattle’s page on Facebook, fans can enter themselves to win the Ultimate VIP Tailgating Experience–winning fans will be granted four suite-level tickets to an upcoming Seahawks game!

Qdoba Seattle and Beyond Traditional will also be working together to introduce a new, bracket-style competition to find the best tailgate BBQ-ers in Seattle. Over eight Seahawks games, parking lotchefs-de-cuisine will put their spatulas to the test to whip up the tastiest tailgate entrees this side of Monday Night.

After advancing through several heats, the winning individual/team will be selected by Qdoba chefs. The plate that most closely encompasses Qdoba’s values of ‘fresh,’ ‘grilled’ and ‘fun’ will win a trophy, recognition by Qdoba Seattle and the opportunity to have their Superbowl party catered by Qdoba.

YAHOO! STUDIOS: Sweet Success @ NYC Internet Week

June 20th, 2011

With a busy NYC street virtually shut down by a tricked-out dessert truck, hoards of techies with a serious sweet tooth and a resounding chorus of off-key yodeling–you know Beyond Traditional must be nearby.

For the third-annual Internet Week New York, the team at Beyond Traditional not only worked with Yahoo! Studios to support them as a sponser of the event, but helped lead them in viral domination to become the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter during the course of the week!

BT enlisted NYC’s most popular dessert truck, decked it out in Yahoo! Studios signature purple and parked it on Internet Week HQ’s front step. Brand ambassadors distributed over 1,500 purple blackberry whoopie pies, creating a visual road block of hungry techies at West 18th Street in Manhattan. Over 600 people posed with their pies in front of the Yahoo! branded photo wall and performed their celebratory Yahoo! yodels–we suppose free pie is reason enough to make anyone shout “YahoooOOOOooOOOOooo!”

Beyond Traditional set up live web kiosks that showcased four of Yahoo! Studios’ most popular shows–OMG! Now, Breakout, Trending Now and Sports Minute. Live webisode tapings, held on-site, featured celebrity guest appearances by Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian and 30 Rock’s Judah Friedlander.

Over the week, Yahoo! Studios Gave away over 10,000 pieces of Yahoo! Studios branded collateral and featured a business card drop-box where attendees entered to win one of four HTC Flyer tablets.

Beyond Traditional, Qdoba Make Mobile Advertising Delicious

March 17th, 2011

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Even if you don’t possess the requisite genetics to truly identify with this glorious occasion, you can take solace in the fact that on March 17th, everybody is Irish!

To help celebrate Irish culture, as well as feed some very hungry people, the Beyond Traditional team stopped by the St. Patty’s Day Dash last Sunday to launch the return of the Qdoba Free Taco Truck, a year-round, mobile advertising campaign for Qdoba Seattle. The truck, which became something of a sensation across Seattle last year, is back for another summer to distribute their free street tacos to events across Seattle.

Famished runners, and some less-motivated-but-still-awesome attendees, were delighted to receive free tacos, necklaces, coupons, and a chance to dress up in themed costumes and take a photo at our Photo Wall.  Check out QdobaStreetTacos.com for more information, or Facebook.com/QdobaSeattle to see where the Taco Truck will venture next!

P.S. — For those that caught the allusion in this blog’s title, kudos!  (“The Importance of Being Earnest” was written by the great Irish writer Oscar Wilde.  Now you know!)
