D.R. Horton is the largest home builder in America, and with over 20 communities in the Puget Sound area, the largest in Washington state as well And while the national trend for home builders is currently focused on cutting spending, D.R. Horton is cementing their place as a leader by unveiling an ad campaign designed to demonstrate stability nationally while connecting with locals through the primary message, “You Are Here. We Are Everywhere.”

As D.R. Horton’s agency of record, we took the iconic image of a pin and map to demonstrate their massive presence in the Puget Sound area. We produced media that utilized the traditional mediums of TV, radio, and billboard placements across Washington, as well as a mobile billboard truck and a custom-designed website to help consumers find one of the hundreds of Horton homes in the area. All of these efforts helped communicate to Washingtonians that their new home really is closer than they think.

The long term campaign which began in January will be managed by our team exclusively, with new TV, radio, and outdoor ads scheduled to roll out monthly. This new campaign provides further evidence that Beyond Traditional can produce excellent work in traditional mediums — TV, radio, print, etc. — in addition to the creative, non-traditional work that has made us an industry name.

Put down your orange mocha frappacino and check this out: in honor of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, we’re taking a look back at a super-cool campaign to promote everyone’s favorite plastic boyfriend, “Ken”.

Produced by Beyond Traditional’s affiliate Bulldog Mobile Billboards in Dallas, this retrofitted vehicle traversed the hip, fashion-conscious streets of New York to amuse and amaze passers-by on Fashion’s Night Out last September.  With individual rooms for each Ken to strut his stuff, this campaign for Mattel definitely qualifies as non-traditional.

The only thing better than seeing the incredible participation within one of our latest online projects is having the honor to meet some of those that participated in person.  We had the chance to do that last night at Qdoba’s first silent auction to raise money for the Gage Acadamy of Art.

We created QdobaPhotoProject.com to showcase the immense talent that flows from the artsy community of Capitol Hill in Seattle.  Hundreds of Capitol Hill resident photographers uploaded their photos and the Seattle community as a whole was able to vote for their favorites – with the winner receiving a pretty droolworthy prize: a year’s worth of burritos from Qdoba Mexican Grill!  The space above Qdoba in the Capitol Hill neighborhood was the site of the auction, which saw photographers and community members alike pass through purchasing art with all proceeds benefitting the Gage Acadamy of Art.  Qdoba provided a full catering bar as well as shaken agave margaritas and cerveza.

After lusting over some of the photography that was submitted, we at BT couldn’t resist copping a few for our own personal collection..

BT & Seattle Goodwill Educate Confused Freshmen

October 15th, 2010

SEATTLE – Early September, school was back in sesh’ and a whole new crop of fresh fall finds hit the racks at Goodwill just in time for the new harvest.

To celebrate, Beyond Traditional designed and built a custom mobile showcase featuring dress-forms donned in unique digs, presented in and outside of a real dorm room furnished with real Goodwill finds.

The truck took to the streets and cobblestone nooks and crannies of Seattle’s college campuses, Greek rows, and popular hangouts, schooling clueless freshmen on why their neighborhood Goodwill is the best place for quality previously loved goods.

Beyond Traditional used scrolling billboards to highlight “your missing item” (they literally cut it out of the billboard) and featured a map showing the surprisingly close distance between Seattle colleges and respective nearby Goodwill locations. Trained Brand Ambassadors distributed 5,000 coupons, many of which were promptly brought directly to the store for redemption.

This campaign is one of over a dozen unique, nontraditional executions Beyond Traditional has designed for Goodwill in its four-year partnership. Beyond Traditional was proud to recently sponsor Goodwill’s Glitter Gala this month for the third year in a row, which raised over $250,000 for its Job Training and Education programs.
